Sustainability

Designing with people and the planet in mind is central to FERRAH. Our made to order model minimizes excess and encourages a more intentional approach to design and production. We focus on natural materials, thoughtful patterning, and responsible use of resources within our studio, while maintaining a commitment to fair labor and long lasting craftsmanship. Through this approach, we aim to create garments with enduring value and a considered environmental footprint.

  • FERRAH garments are made to order, ensuring materials are used only as needed and never in excess. Within our studio, fabric is treated as a finite resource, with offcuts carefully collected, sorted, and reintroduced into future work whenever possible. When reuse is not feasible, materials are redirected through donation or responsible recycling. We incorporate zero waste patterning techniques where possible, allowing pattern pieces to interlock efficiently so that fabric is fully utilized.

  • FERRAH works primarily with natural, high quality textiles, with a focus on silk and other fine fibers chosen for their longevity, hand, and ability to age beautifully over time. We prioritize materials that can return to the earth at the end of their lifecycle and avoid synthetics wherever possible. Muslin and select support materials may be used in development, but our finished garments are rooted in natural fibers. We are a cruelty free brand and do not use fur or animal skins.

  • FERRAH is rooted in craftsmanship and intentional production, with the majority of garments developed and constructed within our New Orleans studio. When specialized production is required, we partner with a small network of trusted US based manufacturers who meet our standards for ethical labor, fair wages, and safe working conditions. These relationships are carefully selected and maintained to ensure consistency and integrity across all garments.
